You might have heard Google has been putting together a set of guidelines for web and application design called Material Design. These guidelines and principles set the baseline that web developers and designers should follow for the best user experience.

Google hasn’t released any markup or code, but there are a lot of projects online that are following there guidelines to create Material design frameworks. The one that caught my attention created a Material Design Bootstrap theme. You can see the demo here.

Since I have been building Bootstrap WordPress themes over at BragThemes.com and GentsThemes.com, I thought a Material Design WordPress Theme would be a fun project. So I put together a WordPress theme that uses the Material Design Bootstrap theme and called it MaterialWP.

Yesterday, Google gave Google+ users access to pages! This is big news in the social media world for businesses and brands. If you are familiar with Google+ you know that you can add people to circles,+1 posts, and interact with other Google+ users on the social platform. Well now you can do everything with Google+ pages. Google changes algorithm to list higher quality sites

The Google blog just announced that they have changed their algorithm to list higher quality websites.

This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on.

This is good news for the bloggers and website owners that write and produce their own content. Writing unique content is very important when trying to rank in the major search engines and this article just stresses that fact. Not only does Google reward you for unique content, but your website is more likely to get more one way links from webmasters than other websites that just copy content, see more here to learn about the power of google stacks.
